Long bio

From the opera stage to background vocals for a Nashville dance-rock band, Emma Rose is a Nashville-based vocalist and performer exploring the ways different musical styles can communicate emotion and connect people. Her musical experience spans classical voice, opera, vocal jazz, a cappella, choir, and commercial music. As a classically trained vocalist, she is particularly interested in how the technique, discipline, and expressiveness of classical singing can translate into different performance settings and genres.

Emma’s interest in the connection between music and people began with her early studies in music therapy at Carroll University. Through that experience, she became interested in the ways music can influence emotion, communication, and human connection. Her musical studies and performance experiences continued through a cappella, choir, and opera before she went on to study psychology and vocal jazz in San Diego. These experiences expanded her understanding of both her voice and the many ways music can be experienced and communicated.

At Belmont University, Emma continues to develop her classical voice and performance experience while expanding into commercial music. She performs with Belmont Opera and church choir and sings background vocals for a new Nashville dance-rock band. Moving between these different musical environments has allowed her to explore the contrast between the precision and storytelling of classical performance and the energy, collaboration, and spontaneity of commercial music.

Rather than defining herself by a single genre, Emma is interested in discovering how her different experiences can inform one another. Her background in music therapy and psychology continues to shape her interest in emotional connection, while her classical and commercial training continues to shape her as a vocalist. Now based in Nashville, Emma is continuing to build her experience across musical styles and explore where her voice can take her as a performer.
